The ETB Technologies Story

 
The evolution of ETB Technologies’ website has been a massive success, both in the initial redevelopment and when we revisited it. ETB Technologies’ original website was redeveloped by us back in June 2014 and achieved tremendous growth in a short time period, enabling them to become one of the leaders in their industry. However, there were several areas on the website that needed attention despite the original website standing the test of time. With competitors having their own equally professional online presence, a fresh design and improved functionality would rejuvenate the site and be even more appealing to customers.

The Evolution of ETB Technologies

Due to imminent lack of support for Magento 1 websites, ETB Technologies’ site needed to be migrated from Magento 1 to Magento 2. Magento 2 offers better integrations and is generally faster and more efficient, the migration also offered ETB Technologies more opportunity for future growth. Over time, ETB Technologies’ product offering has grown significantly, causing the navigation to become messy and products difficult to find. It is also time consuming to add product details, therefore we needed to come up with a more efficient solution.

The Challenge
To ensure the existing functionality, that visitors to ETB-tech.com were used to using, was improved upon when migrated to the new site, we reviewed the existing (at times bespoke) features and functionality of Magento 1 and ensured that all elements are carried over to the new website. The Magento 2 migration meant we were able to further optimise the site during the redevelopment. We refreshed the website even further by bringing it in line with current ecommerce practice by facilitating smoother international transactions, an updated payment system, better navigation and menus for more efficient customer experience, integrating a new nav system for better site management, improved SEO and improved site speeds.

The Solution

Our website redevelopment for ETB Technologies’ has overall been a massive success. The migration to Magento 2 has ensured further future-proofing and has vastly improved the website from an administrative perspective with in-house processes now more streamlined, fast and efficient. The website refresh has proved to be a massive success for customer experience and international growth as well, bringing in half of the sales generation. Although only a short time since the new site was launched, when reviewing statistics year on year, the improvement is clear.

Due to the high volume of products that ETB sell, we integrated Sphinx as it scales extremely well to large amounts of data. It also allows visitors to find the most relevant search results quickly, helping to improve user experience.

A host of Amasty extensions were integrated to ensure improvements with; upsells using the automatic related products, SEO with Amasty’s SEO Toolkit, and UX with layered navigation among other things.
