Junior Frontend Developer

We’re one of Scotland’s leading e-commerce agencies and we’re seeking a talented Junior Frontend Developer with a keen eye for detail to join our team. This is a varied role within an exciting company that is growing rapidly within the ecommerce market.

We have a reputation for building websites with exceptional design, utilising cutting-edge web development techniques. With a large number of client wins, we’re on track to make a big impact in the ecommerce market and need to expand our team.

Join the team and you’ll be implementing beautiful headless ecommerce websites and progressive web applications for local and national retail brands. No two days are ever the same and there is always something new to learn, working with some of the most talented developers in the industry.

About you

We’re looking for someone with a minimum of 1 years relevant development experience, who’s looking to build their skills in an agency that’s operating at the cutting edge of ecommerce web development.

You’ll help to execute sophisticated front-end user experiences using React, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Our ideal candidate will have experience with headless ecommerce and CMS platforms but this is not essential.

You’ll have strong time management skills and the ability to work to deadlines. You should be self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a larger team. You‘ll be responsible for the front end implementation of major brand websites and must be able to deliver pixel-perfect, high-quality user experiences across all modern devices.

Essential skills

  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and React
  • Experience consuming data from REST APIs or GraphQL
  • Strong grasp of modern UX/UI principles
  • Experience with version control software (Git, SVN)
  • Excellent attention to detail including pixel-perfect execution of responsive designs
  • Experience with speed testing and optimisation of websites from a front end perspective
  • Knowledge of A/AA/AAA accessibility requirements.
  • Great communication skills and proven ability to work within a team environment
  • A passion for constant learning and discovery within your discipline

Beneficial skills

The following skills are not a requirement for applications but will be very useful in the role

  • Experience with webpack, NPM and TypeScript
  • Knowledge of Next.js
  • Knowledge of headless CMS
  • PHP, MySQL
  • Magento, Shopify or BigCommerce Experience
  • Experience building email templates for Mailchimp or Klaviyo
  • CSS preprocessors such as LESS/SASS
  • Thorough knowledge of the full lifecycle of digital projects from strategy, UX, creative to technical delivery
  • Experienced with good SEO practice in page markup (semantic HTML, use of schema, rich snippet markup)
